Gender inequality is a complex and multifaceted issue that affects all aspects of life in Mexico. In this blog, we will explore some of the most relevant data about the current situation of women in Mexico, using information from an interactive dashboard created with Power BI. This dashboard is made with the intention of informing and seeing the potential of unified data through interactive visualizations.

Key Findings

  • Population and economic participation: Women make up 51.2% of Mexico's population, but only 42.7% of the workforce.
  • Nuptiality and average number of children: The marriage rate has fallen in recent years, while the average number of children per woman has also fallen.
  • Violence against women: In 2022, there were more than 339,000 emergency calls for violence against women.
  • Wage Gap: The average hourly wage gap between men and women is 16%.
  • Participation in STEM: Only 29.2% of women in Mexico study STEM careers and only 18.18% work in STEM areas

Factors that influence gender inequality
